Add categories until your weights sum to 100%.

Tip: Use the examples below to sanity-check the numbers you enter.

What you can do

  • Combine multiple categories into one current grade.
  • See the effect of changing weights and scores.
  • Quickly sanity-check weighted averages without a spreadsheet.

Examples

Weighted categories

Homework 40% (95%), tests 60% (82%).

0.4 × 95 + 0.6 × 82 = 87.2%.

Three categories

Homework 30% (92%), quizzes 20% (80%), exams 50% (85%).

0.3 × 92 + 0.2 × 80 + 0.5 × 85 = 86.6%.

Weights warning

If your weights do not sum to 100%, the calculator will warn you.

Adjust weights until they add up to 100%.

How it works

  1. 1 Add a category row and enter its weight and score.
  2. 2 Repeat for each category that counts toward the grade.
  3. 3 Make sure weights sum to 100%.
  4. 4 Review the weighted course average.

FAQ

Can I use this for unweighted grades?

Yes. Add one category at 100% (or keep equal weights across all categories).

Do weights have to add up to 100?

No, but the calculator assumes they do. If they do not, it will show a warning.

Is this the same as a GPA calculator?

No. GPA calculators use credit hours and grade points; this is for a single class average.
